5 Common Florida Car Accidents

Please be aware that injuries can occur during a vehicular accident no matter the speed at which the accident occurs. Even accidents that occur when moving less than ten miles per hour can cause injuries. Anyone involved in an accident, no matter how minor, needs to be checked out by a doctor.

Here are the 5 most common types of accidents we see on Florida's roads.

1.) Impact at low speed

A collision, or (MVC) motor vehicle collision is the result of a vehicle colliding with another object, be it another vehicle, road debris, person, animal, or any stationary object (pole, building, tree etc).

Although these are normally just "fender-benders", any Traffic collisions even light impact, can cause physical damages, injury, or even death. Low impact accidents usually see injuries such as whiplash, serious bruising, and head injuries.

2.) Full frontal collision

This type of collision is often the most terrifying, because, as the name implies, you can see what is coming at you. It is human nature to tense up or brace you for an oncoming impact. This is an involuntary reaction to prepare your body for the shock of an unwanted blow.

Often a frontal collision will allow an alert and unimpaired driver to see the oncoming danger, and be able to react accordingly. This automatic reaction can often help avert this type of collision. Full Frontal collisions can include buildings or walls, trees, other, cars, and many other assorted obstacles on the road.

Injuries most associated with this type of collision can include head and face, back, neck, spine, chest area, Shoulders, and limbs. You should always be checked out by a medical professional after this type of accident. There are conditions that may not be obvious like concussions, internal bleeding, or other injuries.

3.) Rear end collision

Rear end collisions are common. Rear collisions can range from a low-impact fender-bender, to a serious crash often caused by a distracted driver behind you.

Most often hitting the rear end of a car is almost always caused by the driver behind the affected car. Because of this, we typically categorize this type of accident as an "at fault" scenario.

Unlike most other accidents, collisions from the rear are most always caused by a distracted driver. This is why we cannot stress enough the need for a driver to be sober, attentive, and alert. There are a number of injuries that can happen as a result of this type of collision. They range from very minor to death.

4.) Side of vehicle Collision

This type of accident is also normally the result of another driver. In a side collision, driver or passengers head will hit to the side of the vehicle, striking an object such as the door or window. Common injuries expected can be concussions or neck, shoulder, or spinal damage.

5.) The T-Bone or Intersection Collision

These accidents are usually the result of an individual that does not or cannot stop and runs a red light or stop sign. A car making a left turn may not yield to oncoming traffic, and by not doing so causes a collision. This accident scenario is really dangerous because your car can be hit from most any direction.

The cause of an accident at an intersection is usually easy to determine. These types of collisions are common in Florida. There are a number of different injuries possible. The types of injuries really depend on particulars of the situation.

Most often, a safe trip depends on the driver. Take this responsibility seriously when transporting your friends and family.

Always be prepared for any situations, and never drive impaired or tired. It is always good to carry a notebook, first aid kit, and be prepared to take pictures. If you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident, wait for the authorities, get checked out by a medical professional, and no your rights!
