Florida man latest victim of fatal pedestrian accidents

While traveling by automobile is much faster and more convenient most of the time, there are many reasons why a Tampa resident may choose to walk. However, though many may elect to do so for exercise, walking anywhere near traffic always carries the attendant risk of becoming a victim of the countless pedestrian accidents that occur every year throughout the state. Recently, this type of collision claimed the life of another victim.

Florida officials reported that a 45-year-old man was walking along a local state road. He was on the shoulder and moving easterly -- in the same direction as the flow of traffic on that side. A driver approaching from behind reportedly failed to maintain proper lane position. Police stated the vehicle left the travel lane and struck the victim with the front end of the automobile.

It is unclear if the victim died on the scene or if he was first transported for treatment. The driver of the car and a young child, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were not injured in the collision. Law enforcement stated that the investigation was not yet completed but that charges were possible.

Pedestrian accidents are not uncommon given the population in large cites such as Tampa; however, they are preventable when both motorists and residents follow the laws and exercise due caution when both are present. Unfortunately, even the most diligent and careful pedestrian can become a victim of an accident without warning. When one suffers a serious injury from one of these accidents through little to no fault of his or her own, a personal injury suit may allow one to recover the monetary damages that tend to accumulate from all of the associated losses. In the case of this particular victim, his surviving family may decide to pursue a wrongful death suit against the driver believed responsible for the tragic loss of their loved one.
