Florida car accidents: Driver seriously injured, another dead

Authorities in Florida and across the country understand all too well the dangers of distracted driving. Emergency workers frequently witness the tragedy and serious injuries that can result from unfortunate car accidents. State Patrol troopers are still investigating one recent tragic accident and are likely focused on determining what events may have precipitated the accident.

Early on the morning of the collision, a 21-year-old woman was driving in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41, and her vehicle collided with one traveling in the northbound lanes. The investigation has not concluded what happened leading up to the collision, but it appears that alcohol was not involved. The woman drifted from her lane, crossed over the median and drove into the northbound lanes. The northbound vehicle was occupied by a 42-year-old driver and his young passenger.

Sadly, the woman did not survive her injuries. The other driver survived, but reportedly suffered serious injuries. His 5-year-old passenger escaped the collision with minor injuries. No criminal charges have been issued.

Attempting to process all that is involved in the aftermath of car accidents involving serious injuries or deaths can be overwhelming. Property damage has to be determined, insurance companies have to be contacted and healing from injuries can be difficult. Fortunately, personal injury attorneys in Florida can advise victims through the process and advocate on their behalf with insurance companies. Attorneys can also inform victims, including the surviving families of deceased victims where appropriate, of their rights and options to file a lawsuit in civil court.
